We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced School Counsellor to join our team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people within a supportive school environment.
The Role
As our School Counsellor, you will provide confidential, one-to-one counselling and emotional support to pupils, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and promoting positive mental health. You will work collaboratively with school staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure pupils receive the support they need.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A recognised counselling qualification (minimum Level 4 Diploma or equivalent) or experience of this role in an educational setting
- Membership or accreditation with a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP or NCPS), or be working towards accreditation
- Experience working with children and young people, preferably within a school or educational setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A sound understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and confidentiality
- The ability to build trusting, professional relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
- A caring, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Spencer Clarke Group work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
