Tradewind Recruitment
Location: Lancashire (Blackpool, Preston, Fylde, Wyre, Blackburn, Leyland)
Job Type: Flexible Daily Supply, Part-Time & Full-Time Contracts
Are you a Youth Worker, Football Coach, Sports Coach, Playscheme Worker, or Scout/Guide Leader looking for a rewarding new challenge? Have you ever considered utilising your transferable skills to step into a Secondary School environment?
We are currently recruiting adaptable, confident individuals to work as School Cover Supervisors across a network of mainstream secondary schools across Lancashire.
If you excel at leading groups, managing behaviour, and inspiring young people, you already have the exact skills needed to succeed in the classroom. No previous school teaching experience or formal teaching qualifications are required, as full training is provided.
Why Transfer Your Skills to a Cover Supervisor Role?
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading classrooms and supervising students aged 11-16 when their regular teacher is absent.
-
Your Transferable Skills: Your background in youth work, football coaching, scouting, or running play-schemes means you already know how to command a room, capture attention, build rapport, and manage group dynamics safely and positively.
-
No Lesson Planning or Marking: The class teacher leaves all the work and lesson plans in advance. Your job is to deliver the instructions, keep students on task, and ensure a calm, safe learning environment.
-
Ultimate Flexibility: Work around your current coaching schedules or external commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Supervise whole classes in mainstream secondary schools across various subjects.
-
Deliver pre-planned lesson materials and communicate tasks clearly to students.
-
Ensure a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
What We Are Looking For:
-
Confident communicators with a strong, natural presence.
-
Experience leading or supporting young people (e.g., youth workers, sports coaches, football coaches, scout leaders, guide leaders, holiday camp workers, or play-scheme workers).
-
Candidates must hold an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new one.
Benefits of the Role:
-
Work-Life Balance: Hours generally run from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, term-time only. Enjoy your weekends and school holidays!
-
Professional Growth: Ideal hands-on experience for anyone considering a future route into initial teacher training (ITT).
-
Dedicated Support: Access to ongoing, free professional development (CPD) courses, including classroom behavior management and safeguarding training.
