About the Role:
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join a secondary school in the Southport starting in September 2026. As one of the fastest growing agencies in the UK, we are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic educator to inspire and nurture the next generation of scientists. A successful applicant will have a teaching qualification with QTS.
Secondary Science Teacher
Location: Southport, PR9
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Temporary, Long Term
Working Hours: Full time, 8:00am – 4.00pm
Salary: Paid to scale
Key Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in shaping students' understanding of scientific concepts
- Creating engaging hands-on activities to demonstrate scientific principles.
- Assessing students' progress through assignments
- Adapt teaching techniques to individuals to help them grasp complex topics
- Ensure safety in the classroom which includes proper handling of equipment.
- Managing classroom behaviour to create a positive learning
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Physics, Biology, or Chemistry.
- Proven experience teaching in a UK secondary school.
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training can be provided).
- Right to Work in the UK.
- Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
- Ability to provide at least two professional references/cover the last 2 years in full/cover at least 24 months worked
