Full-time | 36 hours per week | 52 weeks per year

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Section Manager – Business (Finance & Management) to lead and develop a dynamic curriculum area within a forward-thinking further education environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate education professional to shape curriculum delivery, drive student success, and lead a team of teaching staff across a portfolio of business and finance programmes.

About the Role

As Section Manager, you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning, while supporting the strategic growth of the Business provision. You will also deputise for the Head of School when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leadership & Curriculum Management

  • Lead the development, growth and innovation of Business (Finance & Management) programmes
  • Manage a cluster of courses, ensuring high standards of delivery, achievement, and student progression
  • Plan timetables, allocate resources, and support effective staffing
  • Support, motivate and manage teaching staff, including appraisals and development

Teaching, Learning & Quality

  • Teach across a range of programmes within your specialism (including potential AAT and HE provision)
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and assessment practices
  • Monitor performance data and implement quality improvement strategies
  • Ensure compliance with awarding body standards and quality frameworks

Student Experience & Outcomes

  • Oversee student recruitment, retention, and achievement
  • Ensure effective tutorial support and implementation of student support strategies
  • Promote an inclusive, supportive, and high-achieving learning environment

Employer Engagement & Growth

  • Build strong relationships with employers and external partners
  • Contribute to the development of work-based learning opportunities
  • Identify and develop new curriculum and commercial opportunities aligned to market needs
  • Support marketing and promotional activities

About You

We are looking for someone with strong leadership capability, a passion for education, and a proven track record in delivering excellent outcomes.

You will have:

  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in Business, Finance or related field
  • A recognised teaching qualification (Level 5 or above) or willingness to achieve
  • Experience teaching in Further Education (Business/Finance subject areas)
  • Demonstrable curriculum management or team leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of teaching, learning, and assessment practices
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering AAT or Higher Education programmes
  • Industry experience in Business or Finance
  • Assessor/verifier or professional qualifications (e.g. AAT, CIPD, ILM)
