DATTalent ltd
Security Architect
Contract | Inside IR35 | 6 Months | Hybrid | Central London
Overview
A well-established UK public sector organisation is embarking on a significant programme to modernise a core operational platform. Central to this is the design and build of a new, secure application and data environment, replacing a legacy system that has been in place for a number of years.
This is a high-stakes programme operating within a sensitive environment. The organisation needs a Security Architect who can take ownership of the security design from the ground up, working closely with programme leadership, technical teams, and senior stakeholders across the business.
This is not a governance or compliance-led role. You will be expected to make and defend real architectural decisions and operate with a significant degree of autonomy.
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading the security architecture for a new application and data platform, from design through to implementation
- Providing authoritative security guidance across the programme, influencing key decisions at all levels
- Translating complex security and risk concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across a complex delivery landscape
- Ensuring the solution is aligned to relevant government security frameworks, classification requirements, and accreditation processes
- Identifying and managing security risks throughout the programme lifecycle
What We Need From You
Essential:
- Active Developed Vetting (DV) clearance
- Proven experience as a Security Architect on large-scale IT transformation or application development programmes
- Strong working knowledge of NCSC guidance, NIST, and UK government security classification frameworks
- Experience navigating government accreditation and assurance processes
- The ability to engage and influence at the most senior levels, including with non-technical stakeholders
- A track record of operating effectively in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
