We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Tutor to provide 1:1 educational support for a Looked After Child (LAC) in Leicester, starting ASAP. About the Role
You will work closely with a young person who presents with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, delivering personalised learning sessions that build confidence, engagement, and academic progress.
The successful tutor will create a safe, supportive learning environment while adapting lessons to meet the individual needs and interests of the learner.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to the pupil's needs
Build a positive and trusting relationship with the learner
Support emotional wellbeing alongside academic development
Adapt teaching strategies to promote engagement and success
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback
Encourage attendance, motivation, and positive learning behaviours
We Are Looking For
Experience working with SEMH pupils, LAC, or vulnerable young people
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) desirable but not essential
Tutors, teachers, mentors, youth workers, or support staff with relevant experience welcome to apply
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
