The Role
As an SEMH Mentor, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
- Build trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement
- Assist in managing behaviour using positive, consistent strategies
- Support learning both in and out of the classroom
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Help students develop confidence, resilience, and social skills
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
- Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour
- Has a strong interest in mental health and education
- Is a team player with excellent communication skills
Experience in roles such as support work, youth work, teaching assistant roles, or mental health support is highly desirable.
