The Role of a SEMH Teacher…
Within Huddersfield there are Specialist settings that are calling out for experienced SEMH Teachers to be able to design and carry out adaptable lessons in line with the national curriculum. Specialist settings in Huddersfield cater for students from KS1 to KS4, delivering a broad and balanced way of learning. Being an SEMH teacher requires you to be supportive and understanding to help the students re-engage in their education in addition to supporting their emotional wellbeing and understanding of positive self-regulation.
As a SEMH Teacher you will need to have the following attributions…
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
- A background supporting young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or additional needs
- Confident and skilled in working with children who display challenging behaviour and emotional deregulation
- Strong communication skills and able to engage students and maintain their focus
- Passionate about encouraging wellbeing, independence, and positive social development
