Job Title: Semi Senior Accountant
Location: Harrogate
Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Full time, Monday – Friday

Our client, a highly respected independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Harrogate, is seeking a Semi Senior Accountant to join their growing team. Key Responsibilities as Semi Senior Accountant:

  • Prepare year end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare and submit Corporation Tax and Self Assessment tax returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Manage clients' day to day accounting activities, including month end reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and management reporting.
  • Perform supplier statement reconciliations and support accounts payable processes to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare, review and submit VAT returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Prepare and file monthly Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Complete and submit annual Confirmation Statements to Companies House on behalf of clients.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Experience Required as a Semi Senior Accountant:

  • Around 2-3 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice (less may be considered for the right candidate)
  • AAT qualified is essential
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment
  • Competent in the use of multiple accounting software packages
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and clients simultaneously
  • High attention to detail and a genuine pride in producing accurate work
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and client focused approach
  • Proactive, reliable and keen to develop further within practice
