Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – SEN Support (EHCP)
Location: Mid Sussex
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Academics is currently recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive primary school in Mid Sussex seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring, patient, and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), SENCO, teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the child receives tailored support throughout their school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN in accordance with their EHCP.
- Support learning, communication, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
- Implement personalised strategies and interventions to meet the pupil's individual needs.
- Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and reporting processes.
- Work collaboratively with the Headteacher, SLT, SENCO, class teacher, and external agencies.
- Foster a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in school life.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, either in a school or similar setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of EHCPs and targeted support strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support are desirable but not essential.
