SEN Learning Support Assistant Required for September 2026

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming primary school in Reading from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their individual learning goals. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of a range of special educational needs and learning difficulties.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to supporting the educational and emotional development of young learners.
