Mainstream Primary School – East Grinstead
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in East Grinstead is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
This is a permanent, part-time, term-time only position, starting from September 2026.
Key Details
- Contract: Part time, permanent, term time only
- Hours: 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday)
- Working hours: 9:00am – 3:00pm (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
- Salary: Grade 3 – Pro rata: £11845
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, helping to raise attainment and promote independence, confidence, and inclusion. This role involves supporting children both individually and in small groups to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning across the classroom
- Provide targeted support to pupils, particularly those with SEND
- Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
- Help maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Assist with classroom organisation, preparation, and resources
- Observe and report on pupil progress
- Support communication between staff, pupils, and parents
- Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school
- Undertake lunchtime supervision duties
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for working with children
- Is motivated, proactive, and energetic
- Builds positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Has good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Is calm, patient, and adaptable
- Demonstrates a commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
Essential/Desirable:
- Relevant childcare or education qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Experience working with children in an educational setting
