About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting supporting children and young people aged 2–19 with a wide range of additional learning needs.

This rewarding role involves working closely with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to support learners both in and out of the classroom. You will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where every learner can achieve their full potential and develop greater independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support learners with a range of complex learning needs, communication difficulties, and medical requirements.
  • Deliver tailored learning activities and interventions under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Assist with lesson preparation, resource management, and classroom organisation.
  • Promote learner engagement, confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
  • Support learners with personal care where required, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance.
  • Provide feedback on learner progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents/carers, and external professionals.
  • Support educational visits, enrichment activities, and wider school events.
  • Use ICT and specialist resources to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, SEND, or complex needs.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with learners, families, and colleagues.
  • Is resilient, adaptable, and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities and promotes learner welfare at all times.
  • Is committed to supporting learners to reach their individual goals and aspirations.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Working 1:1 with learners or leading intervention groups.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs, behaviour support plans, and individual learning programmes.
  • Training in areas such as autism, communication support, literacy, numeracy, Makaton, BSL, dyslexia, or first aid.
  • Experience contributing to school trips, residentials, and extracurricular activities.
