The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Science Teacher ideally with a specialism in Biology to join the team on an immediate basis.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons, with a focus on Biology, adapting your teaching to meet the diverse needs of the students.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Science lessons (Biology focus)
- Adapt teaching strategies to support students with SEMH and additional needs
- Foster a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
- Support both academic attainment and emotional regulation
- Track and assess pupil progress, adjusting planning where needed
- Work closely with pastoral staff, teaching assistants and senior leaders
About You
We are looking for a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with a genuine passion for supporting young people who may find mainstream education challenging.
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching Science
- Previous experience working with SEN and/or SEMH pupils
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach
Highly desirable:
- Experience in alternative provisions or specialist settings
- Specialism in Biology
- Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches
- A proactive and flexible teaching style
