Science Teacher (Biology Specialism) – SEMH Setting | Immediate Start

We are partnering with a specialist SEMH provision in the Assington area that supports pupils who require a more tailored and therapeutic approach to education. The school provides a structured yet flexible learning environment for students with social, emotional and mental health needs, alongside additional learning challenges.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Science Teacher ideally with a specialism in Biology to join the team on an immediate basis.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons, with a focus on Biology, adapting your teaching to meet the diverse needs of the students.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Science lessons (Biology focus)
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support students with SEMH and additional needs
  • Foster a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support both academic attainment and emotional regulation
  • Track and assess pupil progress, adjusting planning where needed
  • Work closely with pastoral staff, teaching assistants and senior leaders

About You

We are looking for a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with a genuine passion for supporting young people who may find mainstream education challenging.

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Science
  • Previous experience working with SEN and/or SEMH pupils
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach

Highly desirable:

  • Experience in alternative provisions or specialist settings
  • Specialism in Biology
  • Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches
  • A proactive and flexible teaching style
