Hertfordshire

£35 per hour | 15–30 hours per week

Reed’s specialist tutoring team is expanding, and we are looking for passionate, qualified teachers (QTS) to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition to students who require additional support outside of mainstream education.

About the Role

You will deliver personalised English and Maths tuition to pupils working with Local Authorities, including those in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), in-home settings, or alternative venues such as libraries. All sessions are conducted with another adult present, ensuring full safeguarding compliance.

The majority of students are aged 6–16, with most working at a primary level, requiring tailored, accessible teaching approaches to support their individual learning needs.

We currently work with 40–50 Local Authorities, with the highest volume of opportunities in Hertfordshire. Tuition locations span across the county, from Hemel Hempstead in the west to Bishop’s Stortford in the east.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tutoring sessions in English and/or Maths
  • Plan and prepare tailored lessons based on student needs
  • Follow any guidance provided by Local Authorities
  • Conduct an initial meeting with parents/guardians
  • Complete risk assessments prior to starting tuition
  • Monitor and adapt teaching approaches to support student progress

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Experience working with pupils with additional needs or outside mainstream education is desirable
  • Strong ability to plan and deliver personalised learning
  • Confident working independently and managing your own preparation

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay at £35 per hour
  • Flexible working (15–30 hours available weekly)
  • Consistent work through a wide network of Local Authorities
  • A rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on students’ education and confidence

If you're an experienced teacher looking for flexible work with meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.
