Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a primary school setting?
We are currently recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work within welcoming primary schools in Harlow. These opportunities are available for both immediate and September starts and involve supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
This role is ideal for individuals who have at least 1 year of experience working with children and are passionate about helping pupils with additional needs thrive both academically and socially.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support for children with a range of Special Educational Needs.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Supporting small groups of children with additional learning needs.
- Assisting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, and Learning Difficulties.
- Helping pupils access learning activities within the classroom.
- Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation.
- Building positive relationships to promote confidence and independence.
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Supporting children during lessons, break times, and educational activities.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Supporting children through play-based learning.

Key Stage 1 (KS1)

- Delivering targeted support to help pupils achieve learning goals.

Key Stage 2 (KS2)
- Supporting pupils across the primary curriculum.
- Assisting children with organisation, concentration, and independent learning.
- Providing academic and emotional support to help pupils reach their potential.
Requirements
To be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you must have:
- A minimum of 1 year's experience working with children.
- Experience within a school, nursery, childcare, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, resilient, and proactive attitude.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
