We’re recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary school for students aged 11–16. Set in a beautiful, inspiring environment, the school provides high-quality education alongside expert therapeutic support for young people with Autism and associated needs. Learning here goes beyond the classroom, with hands-on activities designed to build confidence, independence, and life skills.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students’ learning, development, and wellbeing in a safe, nurturing setting. No two days are the same – flexibility, positivity, and strong relationship-building skills are key.
You’ll provide 1:1 and group support in both academic and vocational sessions, which may include outdoor learning, animal care, bushcraft, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and providing additional explanations where needed
- Promoting safeguarding and student welfare at all times
- Helping students meet and exceed their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
- Supporting positive behaviour and adapting your approach to individual needs
- Accurately recording incidents, accidents, and health & safety information
- Encouraging participation in group activities, social interaction, and positive friendships
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience isn’t essential – the right attitude is.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Confidence managing a range of behaviours, including those that may challenge
- A child-centred approach and genuine desire to make a difference
- Creativity, positivity, and adaptability
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Good literacy, numeracy, and basic ICT skills
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent) – desirable but not essential

- The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
