About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in schools across Runcorn. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children by helping them access education and achieve their full potential.
Roles are available supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, across different age ranges and needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND
- Support children with a range of needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language difficulties
- Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering differentiated learning
- Implement behaviour management strategies and support emotional regulation
- Adapt learning materials to suit individual needs
- Track and report on pupil progress and engagement
- Promote independence, confidence, and social development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children with SEND in a school or care setting
- A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils
- A commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
Desirable
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3)
- Additional SEND training (e.g. Team Teach, Autism Awareness)
- Experience working with EHCPs or behaviour support plans
