About the Role

We are looking to appoint dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join the team at an SEN school in Barnsley. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive and forward-thinking setting that is committed to delivering high-quality education for students with additional needs.

Due to ongoing development within the provision, the academy is seeking passionate individuals who can make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Students at the academy may have:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • Additional complex learning needs

The school promotes a calm, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere, with a strong emphasis on positive relationships and personalised support. Staff work closely together to ensure each pupil receives tailored guidance to help them succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist teachers with delivering adapted and engaging lessons
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Support pupils’ social and communication development
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Help maintain a safe and structured learning environment

Requirements

  • Essential: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Understanding of ASC, SEMH, or complex needs
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
