SEND Tutor (with QTS)
Location:West London
Hours: 25 hours a week: (Monday-Friday) to be delivered flexibly
Pay: £30 per hour
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND tutor to support a 12-year-old autistic child with ASD, SEMH needs. This is is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's life by creating a positive and responsive learning environment. You will be working two-to-one with the young person, primarily within an SEN setting based in West London. This role will require some planning and feedback to be delivered to parents and multi disciplinary teams.
SEND Tutor Role (with QTS):
Based in West London this part time SEND tutor role will involve working with a student delivering and differentiating the bespoke curriculum that will be delivered to the student, alongside a support worker/LSA. It will be essential to ensure the SEND tutor has strong SEN skills and is able to adapt to the students needs on the day. The student will be in the home and will be receiving 25 hours of support five days a week to be delivered flexibly.
SEND Tutor Key Responsibilities:

Deliver a differentiated curriculum working in core subjects

Build trust and emotional safety by attuning to the YP's pace and preferences

Use positive, non-directive methods to support learning and engagement
- Focus on independent living skills and literacy

Respect and support the YP's independence while remaining available to step in before overwhelm

Identify and anticipate sensory and emotional triggers

Encourage initiation, allow time for processing, and offer flexible choices

Promote emotional regulation through calm and consistent presence
- Use alternative communication techniques such as makaton/visual timetables/pictures and symbols

Be willing to accompany the YP to safe and familiar places that support well being and learning
Essential Qualities:
- Experience working with autistic children or children with complex SEN
- Able to differentiate lessons based on the students needs
- Experience working with students with SEMH is desired but not essential
- Experience with AAC/Makaton/PECS

- Travel to the home in West London
