The Opportunity
Nigel Wright are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice in the North West to recruit a Senior Accountant.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant to join a collaborative and growing firm, working with a varied portfolio of clients and gaining exposure across accounts, tax, and audit.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients while supporting wider team delivery across accounting, tax and audit engagements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and in line with deadlines
- Completing personal tax returns (SA100) and calculating client liabilities
- Producing corporation tax computations and CT600 returns
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, managing queries and gathering required financial information
- Supporting audit assignments, including fieldwork and assisting senior team members
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using cloud-based accounting systems
- Identifying potential tax and accounting planning opportunities and escalating where appropriate
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members, contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment
The Person
We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong technical knowledge across accounts, tax and ideally audit
- ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience managing client relationships and handling queries independently
- Proficiency with cloud accounting software and Excel
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients
- A proactive approach, with a desire to develop and progress
