Senior Associate – Fire Engineering (Team Lead)
Location: London (Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Engineering professional to take on a Senior Associate (Team Lead) position within a growing and highly regarded fire engineering team. This role combines technical excellence, project leadership, team management, and client engagement, offering the chance to work on complex, high-profile projects across a variety of sectors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the development of the London team while leading the delivery of innovative fire engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership
- Support the day-to-day leadership of the London Fire Engineering team.
- Manage team workload, resources, and project allocation.
- Mentor and develop engineers at all levels.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
- Work closely with senior leadership to support team growth and strategic objectives.
Technical & Project Delivery
- Lead fire engineering projects from concept through to completion.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance on complex and non-standard projects.
- Ensure high-quality deliverables through robust review and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Attend and lead client, design, and site meetings.
Programme & Resource Management
- Support the planning and delivery of multiple concurrent projects.
- Assist with resource forecasting and workload management.
- Identify and manage project risks, programme challenges, and delivery pressures.
- Help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Client & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support business development activities, including bids and proposals.
- Contribute to industry engagement and raising the profile of the fire engineering team.
About You
You will be an experienced Fire Engineer with a strong technical background and a passion for developing people and leading projects.
Requirements
- Proven experience within a fire engineering consultancy environment.
- Experience leading projects and supporting or managing teams.
- Degree qualified in Fire Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status preferred, or actively working towards chartership.
- Strong technical knowledge of fire safety design principles and modelling tools.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
- Experience managing workloads, resources, and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills.
- Collaborative approach with a commitment to technical excellence and team success.
