Ncounter
Senior C++ Engineer
West of England | eDV Required | 4-5 Days Onsite
Ncounter are supporting a specialist engineering organisation delivering advanced software systems within the UK national security sector. As part of continued growth, they are looking to hire several Senior C++ Engineers to help build high-performance systems that support mission-critical decision making.
This is a genuine software engineering opportunity, focused on modern C++, Linux, and ultra-low latency systems where performance, reliability, and efficiency matter. The software developed here processes significant volumes of information in highly secure environments, helping users make rapid and informed decisions.
Candidates must either already hold eDV clearance or possess active DV clearance with the ability to progress through eDV sponsorship. The role requires a commitment to working onsite in the West of England four to five days per week.
The organisation is seeking engineers who enjoy solving difficult technical problems and who take ownership of the software they build. This is an environment that values curiosity, continuous learning, and strong engineering fundamentals.
You may have experience across several of the following:
• Modern C++
• Linux development environments
• High-performance or low-latency systems
• Rust or Go
• Python development
• Kubernetes and container platforms
• Docker and Helm
• GitLab and CI/CD pipelines
• Cloud-native technologies
• Distributed systems engineering
Engineers will work alongside experienced technical teams where collaboration and knowledge sharing are strongly encouraged. Around 10% of working time is dedicated to training, development, innovation projects, and technical learning.
The package includes:
• 10% employer pension contribution
• Relocation assistance
• Flexible start and finish times
• 37.5-hour working week
• Dedicated training and development time
• Strong engineering culture with genuine technical autonomy
This opportunity would particularly suit engineers from high-performance computing, real-time systems, scientific computing, defence technology, or other environments where software performance and reliability are critical.
If you hold eDV clearance and want to work on challenging software problems within a highly technical and collaborative environment, please apply for a confidential discussion with Ncounter.
