An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Formulation Scientist to join a growing pharmaceutical development team. This hands-on role will see you supporting the development of oral solid dosage forms through formulation, pre-formulation and analytical characterisation activities, while working closely with both R&D and manufacturing teams.
You'll contribute to formulation design, optimisation and scale-up projects, utilising a range of material characterisation techniques to support product development from early-stage studies through to technology transfer and commercial manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of oral solid dosage formulations through formulation and pre-formulation activities
- Plan and execute small-scale manufacturing studies
- Operate and maintain formulation and laboratory equipment
- Conduct product and material characterisation studies
- Analyse and interpret experimental data, producing technical reports and scientific documentation
- Support formulation design, optimisation, scale-up and manufacturing process development
- Contribute to technology transfer and product launch activities
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained and operating effectively
- Research and evaluate scientific literature, technical information and pharmacopeial references to support development projects
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with quality and data integrity requirements (ALCOA)
About You
- Degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within formulation development, materials science or a related pharmaceutical development environment
- Understanding of organic chemistry principles
- Experience of analytical and material characterisation techniques
- Hands-on experience using techniques such as particle size analysis, PXRD, DSC and TGA
- Strong data analysis and scientific reporting skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary scientific team
