Senior Health and Safety Advisor

Located in Stratford, London Juniper provides Health and Safety Consultancy, Catering and Cleaning Services mostly within the Education and Public Sector.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual, with a progressive approach to join our team.
Job Role:
Reporting into Operations Manager for Health and Safety, the Senior Health & Safety Advisor will be an essential member of the team. This will be a varied role which will change and develop as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting audits and reviews to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and best practice to an approved plan and methodology.
- Identifying areas of non/ partial health and safety compliance, providing support with implementation to deadlines.
- Assisting the Head of Health and Safety in the development of policies and guidance to staff on health and safety issues.
- Undertaking investigations of all RIDDORs to identify lessons learnt, which should be reported to the Board of Directors, Health and Safety Committee.
- Undertaking a planned inspection regime of Juniper’s remote sites to ensure the risks are being effectively managed in accordance with good practice and legislation. Including providing reports to the Management Team and Health and Safety Committee, under the guidance of the Head of Health and Safety.
- Completing and advising operations teams on ISO audits, inspections and reviews of processes, non-conformities, record keeping and action plans relating to corrective actions.
Key Requirements:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (Desirable)
- CMIOSH accredited or working towards
- ISO Lead Auditor accredited or working towards
- NVQ 4/5 Occupational Safety and Health (Desirable)
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Health and Safety Practitioner
- Proven experience working in occupational health and safety, preferably in an education or school environment
- Proven experience of advising on building related health and safety e.g. legionella, gas safety & asbestos etc.
- Proven experience of implementing or working to ISO standards and monitoring those standards
- Proven experience of providing advice and investigating accidents and incidents
- An ability to provide practical advice and guidance both internally in relation to Juniper operations and externally to our Health and Safety consultancy clients (schools)
- Proven experience of health and safety auditing and providing detailed management reports to support audits undertaken.
