- Maidenhead (Hybrid)
- Contract – initial 6 months term with likely extension
- Up to £58 per hour (umbrella)
We’re currently working with a Local Authority in Maidenhead who need an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer at Senior or Principal level.
This role is focused on handling the more complex end of enforcement – appeals, inquiries, legal work and prosecutions – so they’re looking for someone who has operated at that level before.
The role
You’ll be picking up a caseload of complex enforcement matters and seeing them through – from investigation right through to appeal or legal action where needed. A big part of the role is representing the Council, including acting as a witness at hearings, inquiries and in court.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing complex enforcement investigations
- Leading on enforcement appeals and inquiries
- Drafting notices, reports and evidence
- Preparing cases for prosecution and injunctions
- Acting as a witness in hearings, inquiries and legal proceedings
- Working closely with legal, planning and conservation teams
- Supporting more junior officers where needed
What they’re looking for
- Strong background in local authority planning enforcement
- Experience handling appeals and public inquiries
- Comfortable acting as a witness in formal proceedings
- Good working knowledge of planning law and policy
- Able to manage complex cases independently
RTPI membership and experience with injunctions would be useful, but not essential.
This is a solid contract role with a good rate and a strong chance of extension.
