Senior Projects Manager
Location: Sutton in Ashfield, office based
Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a highly specialised engineering organisation for a Senior Projects Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex, high-value projects within a niche technical environment.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead and coordinate a small project team while acting as a key link between engineering, production, supply chain, and wider stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple large-scale, technically complex projects simultaneously
- Take ownership of project performance, ensuring delivery is on time, on budget, and aligned to client expectations
- Manage, mentor and coordinate a team of 2 Project Managers and 1 Project Support professional
- Rapidly assess and mobilise new projects, defining priorities, plans, and resource allocation
- Provide clear direction and oversight to ensure all projects remain on track and risks are proactively managed
- Oversee all project phases from initiation through to completion
- Coordinate closely with internal teams including engineering, production, and supply chain to ensure seamless delivery
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration across functions
- Monitor progress, budgets, risks, and reporting, implementing corrective action where required
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project governance standards
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior project or programme management role, ideally in a complex engineering or technical environment
- Strong background managing multiple high-value projects concurrently
- Experience leading and developing project teams
- Solid engineering or electrical background, with the ability to understand:
- Engineering drawings
- Design processes
- Excellent coordination, planning, and organisational skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working cross-functionally
- Ability to act decisively and take ownership in a fast-paced environment
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience
Desirable
- Knowledge or experience of NEC4 contracts
- Experience working within a highly specialised or niche engineering sector
