About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to join the Haverhill Social Care Team within West Suffolk. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role supporting children and families across Child in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children, and Assessment services.You will play a key role in delivering high-quality assessments and managing complex cases, with a strong focus on safeguarding, support, and prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments under Section 17 and Section 47
- Manage Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) plans
- Work across Child Assessment, Looked After Children, and Support & Prevention services
- Manage a fast-paced caseload (average of 30 cases)
- Provide effective safeguarding interventions and support to children and families
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners
- Contribute to Child Protection conferences and meetings
- Deliver high-quality, timely assessments and reports
Skills & Experience
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Strong experience within assessment teams
- Ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced caseload
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and frameworks
- Confident in managing CIN and CP cases
- Excellent assessment, communication, and organisational skills
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working – 3 days per week office-based
- Haverhill office is the primary base due to proximity to families
- Occasional working from West Suffolk House depending on caseload
- Attendance at West Suffolk House required for CP conferences and meetings
- Condensed hours over 4 days will be considered
- Located close to the borders of Cambridge and Peterborough
