Brief
Shift Electrical Engineer needed for a large well known Facilities Management organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Electrical Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of undertaking reactive works to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems
The successful candidate would desirably have a relevant qualification – i.e. City and Guilds levels 2 and 3 in an electrical disciple, AM2, 18 Edition etc. – and have a keen interest in Electrical Engineer. If you have commercial experience in a healthcare setting that would be a plus!

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Shift Electrical Engineer will include:
- Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
- Respond to BMS alerts and telephone calls during nightshift, acting as the initial point of contact. Assess the nature of the issue, allocate the task to the appropriate team member, and complete the necessary documentation. Ensure all records are handed over to the Helpdesk team at the start of their shift to support effective service continuity
- Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as low voltage electrical systems, access control systems, alarm systems and medical gas installations
- Undertake role of Authorised Person following appropriate training and familiarisation
- Work on the following but not limited to; emergency lighting, nurse calls, general electrics, fire alarms
What experience you need to be the successful Shift Electrical Engineer:
- City and Guilds levels 2 and 3
- AM2
- 18 Edition
- Previously worked within a maintenance environment
- Previously worked within a healthcare maintenance environment (Desirable)
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
