About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Temporary Traffic Management Operative to join our team. You will be part of a team delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service across Leicestershire and occasionally surrounding counties.
The role involves the delivery, installation, and collection of temporary traffic management signage, supporting highway maintenance, construction, forestry, and street lighting operations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Erection and removal of appropriate traffic management signs
- Delivery and collection of signage across designated routes
- Assisting with scheduling resources for distribution and collection
- Reading and interpreting traffic management plans and drawings
- Carrying out daily checks and basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment in line with legislation
- Supporting traffic flow on-site using stop/go boards where required
- Remaining flexible to accommodate changes in schedules or work demands
Additional Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Sign Shop and Traffic Management Technicians, including workshop support when required
- Participate in standby rotas for emergency call-out situations when requested
- Support the Supervisor or Site Team Leader by:
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
- Monitoring daily performance and raising issues promptly
- Assisting and guiding temporary staff on-site
Compliance and Safety
- Follow all risk assessments and safe working practices
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, COSHH, and Driver’s Hours Regulations
- Maintain safe handling and use of materials, plant, and equipment at all times
Candidate Requirements
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Understanding of Traffic Management on rural and urban roads, links to Chapter 8 or NRSWA.
- Hold a valid driving licence
- Flexible approach to work and working hours
- Commitment to maintaining high safety standards
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
