Site Engineer (Earthworks & Civil Engineering)
About the Role
DCS currently seek an experienced Site Engineer to join a well established team delivering earthworks, remediation, groundworks, and civil engineering projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with strong surveying and setting-out experience who enjoys working on technically challenging projects and collaborating closely with project managers, estimators, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out and surveying works on earthworks and civil engineering projects.
- Carrying out topographical, volumetric, and as-built surveys.
- Producing and maintaining accurate site records and quality assurance documentation.
- Creating and managing 3D models for machine control systems.
- Performing earthworks calculations, take-offs, and cut & fill analysis.
- Establishing site control, GPS base stations, and site calibrations/localisations.
- Supporting project teams with design reviews and engineering solutions.
- Liaising with clients, site management, subcontractors, and operatives.
- Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of machine control systems.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer, Senior Engineer, Setting Out Engineer, or Survey Engineer within earthworks, groundworks, remediation, or civil engineering.
- Strong setting-out and surveying experience.
- Proficient in the use of GPS equipment and total stations.
- Experience with Trimble, Leica, or Topcon survey equipment.
- Knowledge of machine control systems and 3D modelling.
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Trimble Business Center.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience using LSS, BricsCAD, or similar software.
- Experience producing earthworks reports and cut & fill analysis.
- Previous involvement in large-scale earthworks projects.
- CSCS Card.
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
