This Special Educational Needs school based in Dorking are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support children and young people with complex learning needs in a rewarding school environment. The school caters for pupils aged between 7 to 16 years with autism, and many with co-occuring social emotional and mental health neeeds.
This Special Needs Teaching Assistant role is a great way to kick start your career within the SEN sector. Special Needs children and young people face multiple barriers in their day-to-day life, including trauma, marginalisation and disadvantage, low educational achievement and social stigma. With role based in Dorking, you will be an essential part of the pupils school life as with your consistency, you will provide them with invaluable help so they learn as much as they can, progress as far as they can and accomplish as much as they.
Job role and responsibilities for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant:
- Assist the class teacher with the learning experience
- Provide dedicated support to pupils with learning, physical, sensory, or behavioural challenges
- Ability to build trusted and effective relationships with the pupils
- Willing to do 1:1 and small group support and work with pupils
- Follow the safeguarding guidelines and implement them in the classroom
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Be a good listener with a compassionate and caring approach
- Needs to attend staff meetings and complete relevant CPD
- Able to commute to Dorking
**Start date ASAP or September, trial days taking place to ensure the role and school is right for you
**Fantastic on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all pupils
**Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, term time only
**£93-£105 per day
**You MUST have right to work in the UK in order to apply – no Visa sponsorship
