Reed Education is delighted to be recruiting a Year 2 Teaching Assistant on behalf of a friendly and inclusive 2-form entry primary school in Cheltenham. This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September and running for the entire academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school community and play a key role in helping Year 2 pupils thrive both academically and personally during this important stage of their primary education.
The Role
As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider Key Stage 1 team to support teaching and learning across the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning.
- Assist with literacy, numeracy, phonics, and intervention activities.
- Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive and stimulating learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has previous experience working with primary-aged children.
- Has experience supporting Key Stage 1 pupils (desirable).
- Is enthusiastic, patient, and nurturing.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can work effectively as part of a team.
- Is committed to helping children achieve their full potential.
- Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
