Stores Operative Matlock – Derbyshire Up to £33,000 depending on experience Full time, Permanent
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Stores Operative to join their busy and growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with stores or warehouse experience to play a key role in supporting site operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing goods inwards, maintaining stock accuracy, supporting employees and contractors, and ensuring the stores function operates efficiently and safely at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Inwards & Inventory Control
* Safely unload delivery vehicles in accordance with site health and safety procedures. * Check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes, ensuring quality and accuracy. * Move and store stock in designated locations. * Report discrepancies and damaged goods to suppliers and update inventory records accordingly. * Maintain accurate stock records and inventory levels. * Carry out regular stock counts and produce variance reports where required. * Conduct weekly and monthly stock checks of satellite stores.
Stores Operations
* Provide an efficient and professional counter service to employees and contractors. * Issue stock in accordance with company procedures. * Liaise with procurement teams regarding deliveries, returns, and supplier queries. * Maintain the security of the stores area and report any breaches. * Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained, keeping all working areas clean, safe, and organised.
Equipment & Site Operations
* Operate stores equipment safely and effectively. * Assist with the movement of materials around site as required. * Training can be provided for suitable candidates where necessary.
Requirements
Essential
* Strong commitment to health and safety. * Excellent customer service skills. * Good organisational and time management abilities. * Strong numeracy and attention to detail. * Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. * Understanding of stock control and stores operations. * Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure. * Reliable, honest, and dependable. * Excellent communication skills. * Flexible approach to work and changing business needs.
Desirable
* Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics environment. * Experience using inventory management systems. * Experience working with purchase order management software. * FLT, Reach Truck, or Overhead Crane licences. * Experience operating site vehicles or cranes.
