We are seeking a dedicated Street Scene Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of street scene services, including street cleansing and grounds maintenance. This role is crucial in ensuring that services are delivered in line with established standards and targets, and requires a professional with a strong background in local government operations.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Manage street scene services such as street cleansing and grounds maintenance to meet service standards and SLA’s/targets.
- Lead teams of operational staff, setting performance expectations, monitoring productivity, and addressing any issues to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, health & safety regulations, and council policies.
- Manage operational budgets and respond effectively to queries, complaints, and service requests.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including councillors, community groups, and other council departments to enhance service efficiency and community satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in local government street scene operations, including grounds maintenance and street cleansing.
- Strong understanding of operational service standards, health & safety requirements, and compliance within a public-sector context.
- Demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively, including planning work schedules and reallocating resources to meet service demands.
- Experience in supervising operational teams, including task allocation, performance monitoring, and staff development.
- Knowledge of budget management and the ability to monitor expenditure and identify cost efficiencies.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, capable of working under pressure and adapting to changing priorities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with various stakeholders.
- Competency in using digital systems for scheduling, reporting, and recording operational data.
- Full driving licence required.
