Job Title: Systems Engineer
Location: South Yorkshire (UK wide travel)
Salary: Up to £50k (DOE)
We're partnering with a growing specialist engineering company that designs and delivers bespoke technology solutions for customers across a range of highly regulated sectors.
Due to continued growth, they're looking to recruit a Systems Engineer or Senior Systems Engineer to join their collaborative engineering team. You'll work on varied, technically challenging projects from concept through to commissioning, developing integrated hardware and software solutions for complex engineering applications.
About the Role
- Deliver engineering projects across the full system lifecycle, from requirements capture through to commissioning.
- Design and develop data acquisition, control, and automation systems.
- Program efficient control and data acquisition applications.
- Develop intuitive graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
- Select instrumentation and measurement hardware to meet customer specifications.
- Install and commission systems at customer sites across the UK.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
- Produce technical documentation including specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Work closely with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support customer meetings, technical presentations, demonstrations, and proposal development.
- Contribute to system architecture, technical planning, and project delivery.
About You
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience developing industrial control, automation, or measurement systems.
- Knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Experience capturing technical requirements and producing engineering documentation.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills across hardware and software systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers.
- Comfortable managing multiple technical priorities in a collaborative environment.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK (approximately 50%).
Desirable Skills
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens or Allen-Bradley.
- National Instruments (NI) hardware, including DAQ, CompactRIO or PXI.
- LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA or LabVIEW Real-Time.
- Programming experience in Python, C, C++, or Java.
- Object-oriented software development.
- Control panel or instrumentation experience.
- Experience producing system-level electrical diagrams using EPLAN or similar CAD software.
- NI certifications (CLD, CLA, CTD, CTA, CLED).
