Tax Assistant
Part-Time | Permanent | Flexible Working | West Lothian
A well-established and friendly Accountancy Practice is looking to appoint an experienced Tax Assistant to join their close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for a flexible, long-term role within a supportive and people-focused environment.
The Role
You will play a key role within the tax team, supporting a varied portfolio of clients across personal tax compliance and general tax administration. The role offers a broad mix of responsibilities and regular client interaction.
Typical duties will include:
- Preparation of personal tax returns
- Tax Planning
- Liaising directly with clients via phone, email, and in person
- Managing HMRC correspondence and queries
- Supporting with capital gains tax and ad hoc tax-related work
- Chasing client information and ensuring deadlines are met
- Assisting with wider tax administration and project work as required
There may also be opportunities to become involved in broader tax planning work over time, depending on experience and interest.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience within personal tax in an accountancy practice environment
- At least 3 years’ relevant experience
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads independently
- Confidence communicating with clients and building relationships
- A proactive and collaborative approach
- Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Experience with tax/accountancy software would be beneficial, although training can be provided. Formal tax or accounting qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
