Location: Standish Area

Start Date: As soon as possible (ASAP) or September 2026 for the right candidate

Salary: from £32,916 – £45,350 per year dependent on experience

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM ( Wednesdays staff training)

The Role

They are are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and resilient Teacher of Biology and Physical Education (PE) to join a dedicated team in the Standish area. This is a unique opportunity to deliver a creative and engaging curriculum to students who may have faced barriers to learning in mainstream settings.

You will play a pivotal role in re-engaging students, building strong therapeutic relationships, and helping them achieve both academic success in science and physical well-being through sport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Biology lessons up to KS4, ensuring GCSE or equivalent curricula are accessible and engaging.

  • Lead dynamic PE sessions that promote teamwork, physical health, and emotional regulation.

  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs of our students.

  • Maintain a safe, calm, and positive classroom environment rooted in relational practice.

  • Collaborate with support staff, multi-agency teams, and families to ensure holistic student development.

  • Participate actively in weekly staff training sessions every Wednesday afternoon.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred. A strong subject knowledge in Biology and PE is essential.

  • Experience: Experience working within an Alternative Provision, SEMH school, or supporting vulnerable youth in mainstream settings is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Exceptional behaviour management skills built on empathy, patience, and restorative practice.

  • Attributes: A non-judgemental attitude, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for making a difference in young people's lives.
