Teacher of English

Protocol Education

We’re working with a brilliant secondary school in Bristol that’s ready to welcome an English Teacher (ECT to M6). This is a full-time role with the potential to go permanent after 20 weeks, so if you’re after something stable, supportive, and genuinely rewarding, this could be your next move.

What’s the role all about?

You’ll be teaching English across KS3 and KS4, working with a department that’s collaborative, creative, and always looking to do things better.

You’ll also take on Form Tutor responsibilities, supporting students beyond the classroom and helping them grow into confident, capable young people.

This school really values the power of English, not just for exams, but for communication, confidence, and life beyond school. Expect thoughtful planning, shared resources, and a team that’s got your back.

What’s the school like?

Think diverse, vibrant, and full of personality.

You’ll be joining a school that:

  • Has a strong, supportive SLT who value their staff
  • Celebrates its diverse student community
  • Invests in CPD and ongoing development
  • Encourages collaboration, not competition

It’s the kind of place where ideas are shared, wins are celebrated, and no one’s left figuring things out on their own.

What we’re looking for

  • QTS and experience teaching English at KS3 & KS4
  • Someone who can engage, challenge, and inspire
  • A team player who enjoys sharing ideas and learning from others
  • A teacher who wants to keep developing and refining their craft

What you’ll get with Protocol

  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella faff
  • Pay to scale, up to M6
  • FREE access to our CPD Academy
  • A dedicated consultant who actually listens
  • Opportunities in schools that match your style and values
  • Refer a friend scheme with rewards

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
