Join Our Team
We are looking for a dedicated, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team in Chatham, Medway from September 2026. This rewarding role involves supporting two pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within our mainstream primary school while they await specialist SEN school/provision placements.
This position requires someone who is firm but supportive, able to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations.
The Role
The successful candidate will:

Provide individualised support for two pupils with complex additional needs.

Adapt learning activities and classroom routines to meet each pupil's needs.
-
Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to promote engagement, communication, and independence.

Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support positive outcomes.
-
Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
-
Record progress and contribute to reviews and planning for the pupils.
Essential Experience
Applicants should have experience supporting children with some or all of the following:
-
ADHD
-
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
-
Visual impairment
-
Non-verbal communication needs
The ideal candidate will be:

Confident, energetic, and proactive.

Experienced in managing challenging behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.

Calm under pressure and able to adapt to changing situations.
-
Patient, resilient, and committed to helping every child succeed.

An excellent team player with strong communication skills.
Desirable Skills
-
Experience using or supporting British Sign Language (BSL) is preferred but not essential, as training and support may be available for the right candidate.
