Teaching Assistant – Reception (1:1 Support)
Location: A Parbold Primary School
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:30pm
Pay Rate: £14.63 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Ormskirk from September. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a reception aged pupil with ADHD who has SEND.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil access learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual support to a reception-aged pupil.
- Encourage focus, engagement and participation in lessons.
- Support the pupil's social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to promote a calm and productive learning environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff to ensure the pupil receives appropriate support.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
- Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and feedback.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar educational setting.
- Experience supporting children with ADHD, SEND or additional learning needs.
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour using positive and proactive strategies.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in a busy school environment.
- A genuine passion for supporting children to succeed both academically and emotionally.
