A teaching assistant is needed for a special educational needs (SEN) school in North London for nursery and primary school students aged 3-11.
As a teaching assistant, you will support students with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) who may have complex needs and learning difficulties.
This school is easily accessible from around London, with great transport links.
Being a teaching assistant at this school, you will become a part of a highly supportive team with exceptional senior leadership and fantastic resources.
Willingness to do personal care is preferred.
Your responsibilities as a teaching assistant may include:
- Working with and supporting students with ASD.
- Providing academic support, either one-on-one or in a small group.
- Promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture and providing emotional support when needed.
- Implementing positive behaviour management strategies which may include physical restraints, to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self-control and assisting teachers with implementing a Positive Behaviour Support framework.
- Assisting teachers with alternative teaching methods, such Lego therapy to encourage joint working and communication skills, or intensive interaction sessions to help pupils develop attention and interaction skills.
- Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
To be a teaching assistant, you will need:
- The right to work in the UK.
- A clear and up-to-date DBS
- Experience working as a Teacher in a UK school.
- A passion to support students with ASD and a keen interest in child development.
