Teaching Assistant – All-Through School SEN & Complex Needs
Prospero Teaching is seeking a calm, patient and committed Teaching Assistant to join an all-through specialist SEN school in Bournemouth, supporting pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5. The school caters for children and young people with a comprehensive range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including Autism, SEMH, communication differences, sensory needs, learning difficulties and barriers to engaging with learning.
This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity for someone passionate about supporting neurodivergent pupils in a structured, therapeutic and child-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils throughout the school day with consistency, predictability and emotional safety
- Working within class groups or providing 1:1 support depending on individual needs
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive routines
- Using calm, clear and predictable communication to build trusting relationships
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the multidisciplinary team
- Being flexible across KS1-KS5 to meet the needs of the all-through provision
Contract Details
- Location: Bournemouth
- Position: Teaching Assistant – All-Through SEN & Complex Needs
- Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
- Contract Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm
Working Hours
- Monday-Friday: 09:00-15:30
Pay Rate (Temp): From £14.25 per hour
Requirements
Applications will only be considered if the following criteria are met:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
- GCSE Maths & English (Grade C / Level 4 or above) – evidence required
- Experience supporting SEN is beneficial but not essential
