Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship – SEND

About the role:
This teaching assistant role is based in a primary school in LS8. They are looking to recruit an enthusiastic apprentice for the role starting September 2026. You will be providing additional support to pupils in the classroom on a 1 to 1 basis. We encourage candidates from a support worker/ youth worker background to apply.
- Supporting children with complex needs including ASD, SEMH and moderate to severe learning needs
- Supporting pupils with their educational and behavioural development
- Providing feedback to teachers and parents
- Adapt lesson materials to suit individual learning styles and accessibility needs.

The ideal candidate:
- Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their academic potential
- Proficient numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
- A minimum 12 month commitment required for completion of the course
- Not currently enrolled in any other government-funded programme
- Must be available during school holidays to complete 20 hours of online training each half-term
- Experience working with children or vulnerable adults
