Teaching Assistants – ASD Base (2 Positions)

We are currently recruiting for two dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) base at a secondary school in the Cardiff area for the upcoming full academic year.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting students with additional needs in a structured and supportive environment.
About the Role
The successful candidates will be supporting students with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- High levels of anxiety
- Trauma-informed backgrounds
You will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to provide tailored support, helping students engage with learning and develop confidence both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support within the ASD base
- Support students through emotional regulation and anxiety management
- Assist with the delivery of learning for students working at GCSE level
- Build trusting, consistent relationships with students
- Implement behaviour and support strategies in line with school policies
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with ASD, anxiety, or trauma is essential
- Ability to stay calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations
- Confidence supporting students working towards or completing GCSEs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
