Teaching Assistants – ASD Base (2 Positions)

We are currently recruiting for two dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) base at a secondary school in the Cardiff area for the upcoming full academic year.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting students with additional needs in a structured and supportive environment.

About the Role

The successful candidates will be supporting students with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • High levels of anxiety
  • Trauma-informed backgrounds

You will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to provide tailored support, helping students engage with learning and develop confidence both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support within the ASD base
  • Support students through emotional regulation and anxiety management
  • Assist with the delivery of learning for students working at GCSE level
  • Build trusting, consistent relationships with students
  • Implement behaviour and support strategies in line with school policies

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with ASD, anxiety, or trauma is essential
  • Ability to stay calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations
  • Confidence supporting students working towards or completing GCSEs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
