Job Title: Telecommunications Engineer (3x days a week)
Day Rate: £200/day (OUTSIDE IR35)
Location: Merseyside
Contract Length: 12 months (extendable)
Telecommunications Engineer (3x days a week) – Role & Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fibre optic, telecom, and network infrastructure supporting critical plant operations, including DCS, SCADA, CCTV, and telephony systems.
- Configure, monitor, and support LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, telemetry, microwave, and communication networks to ensure high system availability and performance.
- Maintain and repair CCTV, access control, fire alarm, VESDA, intercom, and site-wide emergency communication systems.
- Deliver communication infrastructure projects, including network expansions, office fit-outs, shutdown activities, and technology upgrades across multiple plant locations.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with site standards, safety regulations, maintenance schedules, and operational requirements.
Telecommunications Engineer (3x days a week) – Required Experience
- 6–10 years of hands-on experience in telecom, network infrastructure, or data communications within an industrial, manufacturing, or plant environment.
- Strong technical expertise in fibre optic installation, splicing, OTDR testing, fault finding, and maintenance of fibre-based communication networks.
- Proven experience supporting LAN/WAN, SCADA, telemetry, microwave, CCTV, access control, and alarm systems in mission-critical environments.
- Knowledge of cable jointing, telephony systems, industrial communication protocols, and relevant health, safety, and ATEX standards.
- Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, IT, or Electrical Engineering, with certifications such as CCNA, Fibre Optics, or equivalent being highly desirable.
