A school based in Northstowe is seeking a Temporary Finance Officer to join its finance and administration team on a term-time only basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys hands-on transactional finance and supporting a busy organisation.
Please note that this role follows a term-time working pattern. The initial contract will run until the end of July, with one week required during August, before recommencing in September through to the end of October. There is a strong likelihood that the contract will be extended through to the end of the calendar year.
The role can be offered on 30–35 hours per week, however candidates must be able to work on site every day.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will provide day-to-day financial support across a range of finance processes while helping the team manage a busy workload.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing purchase orders and maintaining accurate financial records
- Managing a high volume of credit card transactions and associated reconciliations
- Supporting month-end finance activities and payroll deadlines
- Assisting with invoice processing and general bookkeeping duties
- Maintaining finance records through filing, scanning and document management
- Supporting backlog-clearing activities and ensuring finance information is up to date
- Providing wider financial and administrative support to the finance team as required
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience within a Finance Officer, Finance Assistant or Bookkeeping role
- Experience using finance systems and maintaining accurate financial records
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- A calm, adaptable and resilient approach to work
- Previous experience working within a school or education environment would be advantageous but is not essential
