Job Title: Town Planner Location: London
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multidisciplinary design and planning practice in their search for a Town Planner to join their London office.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Town Planner to join a highly regarded consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of residential, mixed-use, regeneration, commercial, education, healthcare, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will benefit from exposure to high-profile developments while working within a collaborative environment alongside architects, urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers.
THE ROLE
As a Town Planner, you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial site appraisal through to planning application submission, negotiation, and determination.
You will manage your own projects while supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex developments, helping to deliver planning strategies that support sustainable and high-quality placemaking.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Town Planner looking to develop their technical expertise and client management skills within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Managing planning applications and appeals across a variety of development sectors * Undertaking planning appraisals and development feasibility assessments * Preparing planning statements, reports, and supporting documentation * Conducting planning policy research and analysis * Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultees, and stakeholders * Attending client meetings, site visits, and public consultations * Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary design and technical teams * Supporting project delivery across a broad range of development projects
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline * MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership * Experience within a planning consultancy, multidisciplinary practice, developer, or local authority environment * Strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong analytical and project management abilities * Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams * Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
