Transport Manager
Location: Ormskirk, Lancashire
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holidays, private healthcare & profit share bonus
HRGO Recruitment is working with a well-established and growing business who are looking to appoint an experienced Transport Manager to join their ambitious team in Ormskirk.
This role offers the chance to take responsibility for the transport operation, ensuring all activities are fully compliant, efficient, and cost-effective while maintaining high standards of safety and service.
The role:
- Supervise and support a team of drivers in a busy, fast-moving environment
- Ensure all transport activities meet health & safety requirements and legal compliance standards
- Manage day-to-day transport planning, scheduling, and route optimisation
- Maintain compliance with O Licence obligations
- Oversee tachograph records and Working Time Directive adherence
- Coordinate closely with warehouse and operational departments to support smooth distribution
- Track and review transport performance indicators, including cost control and delivery targets
- Investigate incidents, breaches, and compliance-related issues
- Assist with both internal and external audit processes
The candidate:
- Previous experience in a Transport Manager role
- Holder of a valid CPC National/International qualification (essential)
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and O Licence compliance
- Experience managing HGV drivers and transport teams
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- Competent in Microsoft Office and transport management systems
- Able to work effectively in a high-pressure distribution environment
