Transport Planner / Transport Operator
Location: Liverpool
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £35,000 + Benefits
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (rotational hours between 6am – 6pm)
The Role
A well-established logistics and transport business is seeking an experienced Transport Planner / Transport Operator to join a busy operational depot within the container and general haulage sector. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident managing daily transport operations end-to-end.
You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring transport activity while maintaining clear communication with drivers and customers to ensure service levels are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and communicating with multiple drivers throughout the working day
- Planning vehicle routes and allocating work efficiently
- Liaising with ports and securing delivery and collection slots
- Monitoring ETAs and proactively resolving delays or operational issues
- Recording driver start and finish times using a transport management system
- Adjusting workloads and rerouting vehicles when required
- Ensuring PODs are correctly processed and matched to jobs
- Updating customers on delivery progress and resolving queries
About You
- Previous experience as a Transport Planner or Transport Operator (essential)
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving capability
- Confident working independently within a busy transport operation
